Olympic Stadium Tower – Slab Vibrations
Global description
RIO wants to optimize the rental of large spaces in the Olympic Stadium Tower. Thus, middle located metallic structured slabs have been added between existing concrete slabs. It has been possible to double available surface keeping a high ceiling. Vibration comfort problems appeared consequently on new slabs.
Main challenges
The aim was to assess the resonant frequency of each slabs in different locations in order to calibrate a Finite Element model. Accelerometers have been used. Thanks to the Finite Element model, optimization recommendations of the new ligth metallic slabs have been given.
Surface: 10 000 m2 – Year : 2015 – Client : RIO – In collaboration with the Structure team from WSP
