Congratulations to Nouvel Horizon Saint Laurent for winning the Génie-Voirie award for sustainable development! The award was presented by the Association des constructeurs de routes et grands travaux du Québec (ACRGTQ) and Constructo during the 2023 edition.

The winning company was recognized for its work on the Champlain Bridge deconstruction project.

Initially, material recovery targets had been set at 80% to meet sustainable development standards. The Nouvel Horizon Saint Laurent group’s high standards of quality and capacity for innovation made it possible to exceed these levels. As a result, 90% of the total mass of materials generated by the works, 95% of the mass of concrete, and all the steel will be recycled.
The transportation of these materials has also been the subject of reflection, as barges have replaced the use of trucks in order to transport more materials while polluting less.
Furthermore, this recycling will benefit Quebec and Ontario buyers, minimizing the greenhouse gas emissions that were previously allowed to be transported outside Canada.

Atelier 7hz is proud to have worked on the acoustic and vibratory aspects of this project in collaboration with Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated. Indeed, the group had taken the initiative of integrating measures to preserve the environment, and we are delighted to be partnering companies that limit their ecological impact.
